All Things Bakelite screening at the University of Texas

We are truly grateful to American Studies Professor Jeffrey Meikle at the University of Texas, Austin and author of “American Plastic, A Cultural History“, for organizing four departments at UT to sponsor a showing of ATB in the ART Building. From his interview conducted in Austin in 2015, Jeff carries a lot of the historical and biographical aspects of our film.

The UT audience included many students and faculty, including Bruce Hunt from History, Kate Catterall and Carma Gorman from Design. Also, attending were Shaun Branigan and Nathalie Holmes, two members of the Austin-based comedy troupe, Esther’s Follies, who appear in our film.

William Forbath, UT law professor and longtime friend of Hugh’s expressed his enthusiasm after viewing our film.  David Ochsner, UT College of Liberal Arts, commented that our film successfully merged the sciences and the humanities.  After the screening, a group of us shared a memorable meal at the local eatery, Clay Pot.
